Day 3: The Grace of the Pause
## Day 3: The Grace of the Pause
The third day of my Mandala Deeksha began with a test of will. At 6:00 AM, the biting cold felt like an anchor pinning me to my bed. Exhaustion from the previous days tugged at me, and for a moment, the comfort of the blankets nearly won. I eventually emerged an hour behind schedule, facing the daunting prospect of a cold water shower in the morning chill.
As the first splash of freezing water hit, a spontaneous shout of *"Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa!"* broke the silence. That shock to the system was exactly what I needed. By the time I finished my morning pooja, a profound sense of stillness had settled over me. Even though I was running late for an office meeting, the usual frantic "commuter stress" was nowhere to be found. My mind remained remarkably calm.
### The Art of the Gentle Response
Today’s core lesson was centered on **patience and kindness**. For the past three days, I’ve been trying to get my bike serviced, only to be met with a string of excuses and procrastinations from the service advisor. Today, when he denied my request yet again, I felt the old familiar spark of frustration.
Normally, I would have argued, asserted my rights, and pushed until I got my way. But the Deeksha calls for a different path. I chose to speak with love and genuine request rather than demand. Implementing kindness isn't just about being "nice"; it’s about a conscious decision to slow down and practice "live and let live." To my own surprise, choosing peace over conflict didn't feel like losing—it felt like a victory over my own ego.
### Evening Reflections
Despite sore muscles, I made it to the gym this evening, finding a strange rhythm in the physical exertion. I closed the day with my evening pooja and spent time watching *pravachanam* (discourses) on the origins of Lord Ayyappa.
As I learn more about His journey, I realize mine is just beginning. Day 3 has taught me that when we stop pushing against the world, the world starts moving with us.
**Reflections for the day:**
* **Morning:** 1-hour delay, but made up with internal peace.
* **Interaction:** Chose kindness over confrontation at the service center.
* **Learning:** The power of slowing down.
*Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.*
