Day 19: The Traits of the True Disciple

Sunday came around, bringing with it another active day on the cricket field. Managing a tournament while recovering from my recent injuries is still a balancing act, but I focused on playing safely and mindfully, keeping my physical limits in view.
Once the games wrapped up, I headed straight home to shift my focus from the sports field back to my spiritual routine. I completed my evening pooja right on time, feeling the immediate sense of calm that comes with lighting the lamp.
### Learning from the Best
With the rest of the evening open, I started listening to the Kishkindha Kanda discourses by Sri Chaganti Koteswara Rao. Today’s session focused heavily on the character of Lord Hanuman, and I was left absolutely awestruck by the depth of his skills, his intellect, and his unparalleled speech.
Listening to how flawlessly Hanuman speaks, his mastery over grammar, and his absolute humility when introducing himself to Sri Rama was incredibly eye-opening. As someone who loves public speaking and communication through Toastmasters, learning about Hanuman's communication skills from a spiritual perspective was fascinating. He is the ultimate communicator, yet every single word he speaks is entirely free of ego.
### A Quiet Recovery
The rest of the night was dedicated to giving my body the space it needs to heal. I enjoyed a quiet dinner and spent the remaining hours relaxing and letting my sore muscles and heel recover from the physical strain of the past few days. It was a perfectly balanced, cool Sunday.
### Today’s Lesson
Lord Ayyappa taught me today through the life of Hanuman that true capability and absolute humility go hand in hand. You can be the most skilled person in the room, but your speech and your conduct should always remain humble. True strength isn't about showing off your victories; it is about channeling your energy into serving a higher purpose with a quiet mind.
Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa.
